Paraguay vs Chile
Estadio Malvinas Argentinas, Mendoza
20/01/2013, 17:30 (20:30 BST)
The first game of the Hexagonal final sees Paraguay take on Chile who qualified with a 100% record from Group A, including a 3-2 victory over the albirrojita. In that match the rojo had already qualified so played a weakened side yet still managed to find a win despite falling behind early on. Paraguay will need to defend much better in this match to have a chance of taking the maximum points on offer.
Teodoro Paredes has served his suspension following two yellow-cards and there are no injury worries to report so Victor Genes has a wealth of options. He has used 18 of his squad to date but the side we saw against Bolivia seemed to be the most balanced and there is a strong suspicion he will go with that 4-4-2 again having the creative force of Alborno on the left and the pure pace and power of Rojas on the right. Derlis Gonzalez has been the star man to date with 3 goals in the competition.
Chile look like the favourites to win this tournament considering their excellent performances in the first round (despite receiving four red cards) and the absence of both Brazil and Argentina in the final round. Cristian Cuevas and Nicolas Castillo are the dangermen up front.
Paraguay XI (possible): Diego Morel; Miller Mareco, Matias Perez, Gustavo Gomez, Junior Alonso; Jorge Rojas, Ivan Ramirez, Miguel Almirón, Rodrigo Alborno, Derlis Gonzalez, Bryan Montenegro
Prediction: Will be tough for Paraguay in this game, I think Chile have a bit more and can see them beating Paraguay 1-0
