Copa Sudamericana 2012: Olimpia vs Danubio Preview

Olimpia vs Danubio
Estadio Manuel Ferreira a.k.a Para Uno
07/08/2012, 20:45 (01:45 BST)
First leg: 0-0

Olimpia will play in their home stadium, Para Uno, having received CONMEBOL approval and it will be a fantastic atmosphere as they look to progress to the second round against Emelec or Uni. San Martín. The first leg finished goalless which means nothing less than a win will see El Decano advance, that should be well within their grasp.

Uruguayan coach, Gregorio Perez has confirmed his starting XI for the game, his usual defensive 4-4-2 formation. Fredy Bareiro makes his first start since joining from Estudiantes Tecos partnering Nestor Bareiro up front, it means the in-form Arnaldo Castorino is relegated to the bench. Fabio Caballero replaces Carlos Humberto Paredes in central midfield, the veteran had a good game in the clásico but youth has been preferred to experience here. The likelihood is that Olimpia will set up not to concede and try to gradually grab a hold of the game as they search for the winner.

Danubio have had a terrible time travelling to Asunción, they were unable to get a flight following heavy fog and requested a 24 hour delay to the game which was rejected by CONMEBOL (there is a strict TV schedule in this competition). They arrived early this morning by bus and are likely to be low on morale and affected by the lack of pre-match preparation. Their performance in the first leg suggested they won’t have an easy time getting on the scoresheet and I’m predicting a home win.

Olimpia XI (confirmed): Martín Silva; Alfredo Rojas, Salustiano Candia, Enrique Meza, Sebastián Ariosa; Eduardo Aranda, Miguel Amado, Fabio Caballero, Richard Ortiz; Néstor Bareiro, Fredy Bareiro

Prediction: 2-0

Selected Odds: Olimpia win 1.57, Draw 4.0, Danubio win 7.6, 2-0 scoreline 7.0, Under 2.5 goals 1.73

Best Bet: Following the nightmare journey for Danubio the lack of preparation will suit Olimpia, the -1.0 handicap offers good odds
