The Paraguay U20s side won their opening game of the friendly cuadrangular tournament the ‘Copa Ciudad de Arequipa’ against the hosts Perú. The competition is being used as a warm up to the 2013 Sudamericano which takes place in Argentina in January and acts as the qualifiers for the U20s World Cup.
The albirroja travelled up on Saturday and spent the weekened acclimatising before Tuesday evening’s match.
The only goal of the game was scored by Sol de América striker Cecilio Dominugez just before halftime.
Paraguay’s next game is on Thursday against Venezuela at 19.00 Paraguayan time.
