Deportes Tolima vs Cerro Porteño

Cerro Porteño are in Ibagué for only the second time in continental competition, preparing for their third meeting against Deportes Tolima having previously faced the Colombians in the 2007 Copa Libertadores group stages. This is the Paraguayans 35th appearance in the tournament, no side has participated so many times without winning the trophy. They come into the game on the back of a heavy defeat to Sol de América, a result which must have caused some concern for Jorge Fossati.
The good news is that Jonathan Fabbro has shaken off his injury and is raring to go in this oponer, the other likely change from the Sol de América match is that Williams Martinez will make his debut – the experienced Uruguayan defender was signed from Palestino in Chile. There has been talk of Fossati toying with a 4-3-1-2 but it is expected he goes with his standard three at the back with Julio Dos Santos in an unfamiliar position of left wing-back. The idea is that with two holding midfielders in Oviedo and Mareco they can afford to have a more offensive player in that position.
Deportes Tolima have two Paraguayans in their side who are both key members of the Pijao, Antony Silva is the goalkeeper and captain while Rogerio Leichtweis is the new number nine and already in sparkling form up front. The team have plenty of pace and will be hoping to get in behind Cerro on the flanks. My feeling is they will score, but will they be good enough to stop
Cerro Porteño XI (probable): Diego Barreto, Luis Cardozo, Williams Martinez, Gustavo Viera; Carlos Bonet, Victor Hugo Mareco, Fidencio Oviedo, Julio Dos Santos; JonathanFabbro, Santiago Salcedo, Roberto Nanni
Deportes Tolima XI (possible): Antony Silva; Sergio Otálvaro, Davinson Monsalve, Breiner Bonilla, Félix Noguera; David Silva, Breiner Belalcázar, Roberto Merino, Yimmi Chará; Andres Andrade, Rogerio Leichtweis
Selected Odds: Tolima win 2.14, Draw 4.1, Cerro win 3.4, 1-1 draw 7.2, Under 2.5 goals 1.71
Best Bet: Maybe I’ve been conservative in prediction, there could be more goals – I think BTTS at evens is good value in games like this when both teams strongest points are their attack while they are weak defending
Cerro have only visited Ibagué once and they lost 1-o
