Guaraní vs General Díaz
Dos Bocas, Asunción
08/03/2013; 19:00 (22:00 GMT)
TV: Unicanal (Paraguay)
It is a case of third plays first in Dos Bocas tonight as General Díaz visit Guarani in the opening game of Week 5, this will be the fourth game in Asuncion in consecutive days following the three Copa Libertadores matches and comes in a week when Elton John visited the Paraguayan capital – just so much going on!
Guaraní have looked good this year, they are pretty much the same side from last year which has brought continuity in team selection and gives the players confidence. Dante López formed a great partnership with Diego Centurión last year and he is now gelling well with Rodrigo Teixeira. López is the more selfless player who makes good runs and creates space for the other striker. In defense the lack of mobility of veteran Julio Cesar Cáceres has yet to be exposed thanks to his own positioning but also the anticipation of Luis Cabral next to him.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me…fool me four times and I’m thinking of packing this in to live on a farm in the Chaco. General Díaz just keep winning and beating both Luque and Olimpia was follwed by last weekend’s comfortable victory against Sol de América. Three cleansheets from the first four games and manager Humberto Garcia must be lauded for the way he has set up this side. Up front Marco Prieto has got the goals and he is usually assisted by Antonio Bareiro although the former Rubio Ñu man misses out with injury.
General Díaz have been so good and although I think their bubble will have to burst eventually I genuinely think Guaraní are title challengers this year and will have enough to break down the Aguilas.
Best Bet: Neither side has failed to score this year, but both have excellent defences so unsure where value is there, I notice that Guaraní have scored 3/7 goals just before HT so I think Guarani to be winning at HT at 1.86 is the best on offer
Guaraní XI (probable): Alfredo Aguilar; Tomas Bartomeus, Julio Cesar Caceres, Luis Cabral, Edgar Aranda; Luis de la Cruz, Marcelo Palau, Sergio Orteman, Dario Ocampo; Dante Lopez, Rodrigo Teixeira
General Díaz XI (probable): Aristides Florentín; Rolando Sanabria, Walter Cabrera, Lidio Benitez, Marcos Gamarra; Alejandro Bernal, Cristian Sosa, Carlos Vera Segovia, Daniel Ferreira; Marco Prieto, Alfredo Cano
