Cerro Porteño vs Sportivo Luqueño
La Olla, Asunción

Bottom-placed Luque meet a resurgent Cerro Porteño in La Olla tonight with the home side looking for their fourth straight win to move up to third place in the table. While Chiqui Arce’s stock as a manager is rising after that fateful spell as national team coach his rival on the bench tonight, former World Cup teammate José Cardozo, could be one game away from getting the sack, they have lost the previous three.
In terms of team news the big loss for Cerro Porteño is Jonathan Fabbro (suspended) and it seems Santiago Salcedo won’t shake off an injury in time. The latter’s replacement is likely to be Roberto Nanni who last scored against Luque in 2010 in a 1-1 draw. Youngster Angel Romero has been the best performer recently and he actually scored against the auriazul way back in 2011 as a teenager.
Luque haven’t played well at all this season, they languish at the bottom of the Apertura standings and relegation is a very real threat. Cardozo is set to field a fairly ambitious side with Victor Davalos an attacking full back and Luis Miño an adventurous midfielder. Francisco Garcia is a product of Cerro’s youth system and he’ll be hoping to exact some revenge in front of the crowd that famously booed him for scoring on the last day of the 2011 Apertura (it could have handed the title to Cerro’s bitter rivals Olimpia).
Best Bet: Go for the home win, Luque are struggling
Cerro Porteño XI (Probable): Roberto Fernández; Luis Cardozo, Teodoro Paredes, Junior Alonso; Mathías Corujo, Fidencio Oviedo, Nestor Ramirez, Julio Dos Santos, Jorge Balbuena; Ángel Romero, Roberto Nanni
Luque XI (probable): Ever Carballo; Gonzalo Maluella, Miguel Almirón, Diego Viera, Victor Davalos; Ariel Coronel, William Schuster, Luis Miño, Francisco Garcia; Javier Gonzalez, José C. Burgos
