Apertura 2013: Week 11 Wrap and Week 12 Fixtures

Nacional’s thrashing of Cerro Porteño in La Olla has left them 11 points clear at the top at the halfway stage of the 2013 Apertura (although Libertad do have one game in hand). They have been more than worthy of their position, Julian Benitez is firing in goals from all angles and the guile of veteran César Cáceres Cañete mixed with the physicality of central midfielders Marcos Riveros and Silvio Torales has set up the perfect base for a forward thinking team, they are averaging over 2 goals per game.

At the halfway stage we can also give top marks to the two promoted sides, General Díaz have only picked up two points in their last six games but that wonderful start keeps them away from the danger zone. Capiatá have grown into their new surroundings, and have gone almost 300 minutes without conceding a goal at home while picking up wins on the road against both Olimpia and Cerro.

The two traditional giants have been well below par, as usual the demands of the Copa Libertadores has put a serious strain on the local performances. Libertad as ever are waiting in the wings should the leaders slip up.

Here is a round-up of all the goals from the weekend.
