Olimpia vs Carapeguá
Defensores del Chaco, Asunción
28/07/2013; 16:00 (21:00 BST)
TV: Unicanal (Paraguay)
After the drama of the Copa Libertadores Final, Olipmia return to relative normality with a league fixture against Carapeguá who visit the capital in desperate need of points to get out of the relegation zone. The Copa Libertadores runners up have been active in the transfer market making several signings and look like front runners for the Clausura title.
Ever Almeida is resting plenty of players from last week’s final that went to extra time and a penalty shootout and it means returning hero, Sergio Orteman, starts in central midfield with fellow new signing Juan “Lolo” Abente who joins from Luque. The other signings (pictured below) were in the squad so could play some part. Up front the pace of Enzo Prono and Arnaldo Castorino is set to trouble the Carapegue defence, don’t forget Prono’s wonder goal when they met last season.
Carapeguá are now under the orders of a former Olimpia favourite, Virginio “Vicky” Caceres, he won several league titles with El Decano and was present in their previous Copa Libertadores triumph in 2002. He will be looking for inspiration from Jorge Ayala who was in scintillating form before a serious knee injury ruled him out of most of the Apertura. He partners new signing, Serginho Junior, a 26-year-old Brazilian who seems to have been plying his trade in Turkey in the lower leagues. Aldo Vera is set to start having received no sanctions for his brutal assault on an opponent in a “friendly” that left Diego Vera of General Diaz missing six teeth and caused the match to be suspended.
Best Bet: This fixture has only been played 6 times, it has ALWAYS gone Over 2.5 goals which is my suggestion today
Olimpia XI (probable): Blas Hermosilla, Ricarado Mazacotte, Julio Manzur, Enrique Meza, Nelson Benítez; Wilson Pittoni, Juan Abente, Sergio Orteman, Tomas Guzman; Arnaldo Castorino, Enzo Prono
